Part 5 — When Boats Meet

Section A — Right Of Way

A boat has right of way over another boat when the other boat is required to keep clear of her. However, some rules in Sections B, C and D limit the actions of a right-of-way boat.

62.1

Upon receipt of a report from a boat or a committee, or based on its own observation or information from any source, including evidence taken during a hearing, the protest committee may call a hearing to consider whether a support person has broken a rule.

Definitions in Context

Boat

A sailboat and the crew on board, that are subject to the rules.

Support Person

A support person is anyone who provides advice or assistance to a competitor or boat but who is not a crew member or on the boat.

The complete written rules contained in this document, which includes all racing rules including those established by the International Sailing Federation and other governing authorities.

Rule 62.2

If the protest committee decides to call a hearing, it shall conduct a hearing as required by rule 63 and may appoint a person to present the allegations.
